Science: Caring for our Earth
The children will learn about two
important natural resources, rocks
and soil; can be classified
according to their characteristics.
Other useful natural resources
include water, air, plants, and
animals.

Rocks- nonliving things from Earth
Minerals-the building blocks of
rocks
Natural resource-something from
Earth that people use
Soil-tiny bits of rock with dead
pants and animals in it
Oxygen-the part of air that people
need to live
Spelling lessons:
We will learn that some words end
with silent e.
Some words are spelling the way they
sound while others are not.
Long vowels sounds are usually
spelled with two vowels.
We will take the cloze story word
test and dictation.
Math: Geometry & Attributes
This unit introduces
children to ideas about
3-dimensional geometric shapes.
Children bring various boxes and
other 3-D shapes which are displayed
in a shape museum after they sort
the objects into categories.
Children look for 2-dimentional
figures within 3-dimensional
shapes. These activities are
preliminary exposures to ideas and
techniques that will appear again in
second and third grade mathematic |
