It is my pleasure to welcome you to Greenwood Elementary School, a place where students grow and learn. If you haven't had an opportunity to visit Greenwood, I would love to meet you and share with you in person the many positive features about our school. I am proud to say that Greenwood has met Adequate Yearly Progress for two consecutive years, under No Child Left Behind. Greenwood received a "B" on the Michigan School Report Card as determined by MEAP and school performance. Greenwood is accredited by North Central Association and is currently in year two of a five-year school improvement plan.

Greenwood's staff is dedicated to high achievement within a safe and nurturing environment. Children are treated as individuals with peer mediation opportunities available to positively resolve differences.

As principal, my philosophy includes the belief that early intervention and differentiated instruction is the cornerstone to student success. This belief is evident throughout Greenwood. Our preschool serves the students of Lakeview and surrounding communities. All classrooms provide instruction using a balanced literacy approach, with listening, speaking, reading, and writing integrated across the curriculum. Students with special needs are mainstreamed into general education and diversity is embraced.
