 Secretary's Report - Approved

 Teacher's report:  Not applicable

Principal's report:

Mrs. Hickens expressed the one draw back to holding a morning meeting was that we were unable to have a teacher representative present at the meeting.

Mrs. Hickens thanked the PTO for the Sock Hop.  It was a lot of fun and the kids had a ball!  Culver's Night was well received.   The dining area was filled with Greenwood families and nine teachers volunteered their time for the evening.  Brooke Goodnough advised that Greenwood will receive approximately $200 from the event. Anthony Abate won the 5th grade spelling bee and went to the Macomb County finals.  Mrs. Hickens, Mrs. Bogdan, and Ms. Humenny attended and felt it was a very good experience for him. Reading month is underway and started with a kick-off assembly.  The teachers have established fun activities throughout the month.  A flyer was already sent home detailing the events.  Details to follow regarding an author assembly.

Movie Night was very nice; however it had a lower attendance, possibly due to the carnival scheduled at Jefferson Middle School.  Thank you Mr. Dell for his time in playing the movie. Mrs. Hickens wished to thank all of the participants involved in the Tin Can Raffle.  She received all positive feedback.  It was a great success, except for a fire alarm being set off accidentally and fire trucks arrived at the scene. On March 5th teachers and staff members received training in diversity.  In addition, teachers K-5 will receive Science book training on March 13, 2007. Community meetings have been scheduled to discuss the results of the construction evaluations of all schools in the district.  Flyers have been sent out.  Peggy Dell questioned the problem with Harmon’s gym.  Mrs. Hickens explained the floor is cracked due to improper footings and therefore, the gym will have to be replaced.

Thursday, March 15th is the school of choice open house.  All grades are available except 7th grade.  Greenwood will be hosting the event from 6:00-6:30pm, Jefferson Middle school from 6:45-7:15, and Lakeview High school from 7:30-8:00pm.  The preschool open house will be the same night at 5:30pm. Kindergarten round-up is on March 21st at 6:30 pm at Jefferson Middle school.  Parents and children will have a building visit on Wednesday, March 28th at 1:00pm.
