Meeting called to order at 7:03p.m. by President Laurel May

 

Board Members - Phil Thomas and Tim Houlihan reported that Lakeview had a

good turn out at the external schools of choice open house. A total of 93

families attended. All of the school principals did a great job with their

presentations.

 

Treasurer's Report - approved. (19 approved, 0 opposed)

 

Secretary's Report - approved. (19 approved, 0 opposed)

 

Principal's Report - Thank you for attending. (All PTO attendees participated

in an activity that was done at a staff meeting. Ways to improve our meetings.)
 

PTO Norms have been established for each meeting:
1. Respect each other and their time.
2. Keep decisions centered on what's best for the kids.
3. Limit discussion time to 5 minutes per item and
4. No side bar conversations.


Peer mediation process for 07-08 has started.. Training will be coming up. Parents

have received MEAP results for grades 3 through 5. School and district results

cannot be discussed until the state gives the district permission. Kindergarten

Roundup was a success. About 25 parents turned out. Each student received

a picture and a Greenwood bracelet. Greenwood has had 3 assemblies; Jack

and the Beanstalk, Music Around the World and an Ocean Treasures assembly.

Study Hall and Detention have been separated. If at anytime a parent has a

concern, complaint or compliment please contact Mrs.Hickens she is available

anytime.

 

Teachers Report - Science Fair packets will be coming home. Parents can pick up

a tri-fold at parent teacher conferences. Thank you for your support with reading

month. Almost all of the Greenwood Event folders are done. Ms. Flaherty has been

working with Laura Miskelly.

 

 Entertainment Points-Looking into getting books, music items or craft items

with the earned points.

 

McDonald/Subway Night - Waiting for check from Subway.

 

Movie Night - Will be Friday, April 18th from 6-8p.m. Thank You to Fran Mlynarek for

chairing!

 

Morley's Fundraiser - Profit is approximately $2400.00 There was a problem with about

4 items. Thank you to Marilyn Leonardi for chairing!

 

Sock Hop - Everyone had a great time! Thank you to all the volunteers. This event

was put together in 4 days!

 

5th Grade Bake Sale - St. Patrick's Day sale brought in $101.80 and $25.00 the next

day. Funds are being used towards field trip transportation.

 

5th Grade Graduation - Next meeting will be April 3rd at 6:30 p.m.

 

Mom 2 Mom Sale/Dad 2 Dad Sale - 14 people have signed up so far. Have a total

of 40 tables that can be rented. Needs volunteers for concession area. Sale will

be April 12th from 9-2. Call Nikki Cipponeri if you can help (586)549-6880.

 

Ice Cream Social - Planning on having a DJ, pizza, cotton candy, chips, pop,

candy sticks, popcorn and moonwalk. May 8th from 6-8 p.m. Thank you to Fran

Mlynarek and Lisa Akers for chairing.

 

Skating Party - Will be April 17th. All four elementary schools will be having a

skating party together on May 29th.

 

 

New Business -

1.  Market Day - Has a new chair person. Thank you Wendy Fick for Chairing!

2. Teacher Appreciation Week - Laura Miskelly and Wendy Fick to chair.

$500 (19 approved; 0 opposed). Thank you for chairing!
3.
Field Day - Fran Mlynarek to chair. $500 (19 approved; 0 opposed).

4. Talent Show - Need a chair for this Spring event.

5. Adult Bowling Fundraiser - Need Chair person. Event is usually in early May.

6. Accepting Nominations for Next Year's PTO officers at next meeting.

7. By-Laws will be revised by previously established committee per Sandy Feeley-

Myrand. Any suggestions for these laws can be put into the PTO box.

8. Fall Fundraiser - Julie Raymond suggested cards with students' artwork on them.

9. Rehne Myers-Cookie Dough fundraiser will kick off April 4th. Mrs. Hickens

has agreed to dye her hair green for a day if we sell the needed amount of 400

items to avoid shipping costs. Thank you for chairing!

10. Laura Miskelly - 11 more folders still need to be completed. Will go into PTO

cabinet. Thank you!

11. Bye Bye Birdie will be at Lakeview April 18th-19th and 25th-26th. All proceeds

go into Scholarship Fund.

12. Relay for Life - Mrs. Baird and Mrs. Prantera co-chairs for this event scheduled for

May 30-31st. Watch for upcoming fundraisers.

13. Mrs.Bogdan and Ms. Flaherty's class won attendance award!
