Meeting called to order at 7:03 PM by President - Kelly Bean

 Treasurer's Report - Approved 

 Secretary's Report - Approved

 

Teacher's report:  Mrs. Cole expressed the ending of March reading month and the piggy bank is full.  Funds to be used for the library.   Kelly Bean informed of the book wish list located in the PTO box.  Auther, Gary Bower visited Greenwood for the Author assembly and discussed the steps involved of becoming an author.  Mr. Bower donated each of his books to the Greenwood library.  Mrs. Cole wished to thank the PTO for the books that were given out to each Greenwood student during reading month.  All the teachers are busy working on report cards. 

 

Principal's report:

Mrs. Hickens wished to thank all those attending the PTO meeting.  Reading month was fabulous.  The teachers established a lot of fun activities throughout the month.  Kindergarten round-up went very well and was very organized.   She received all positive feedback.    Greenwood was visited by a total of 17 families on March 28th.  Thank you Diane Hinze and Cathy Strobl for volunteering at this event.

The Kiwanis club donated dictionaries to all Greenwood 3rd graders.  When, asked why third grade, per Jennifer Granholm, 3rd grade is the most crucial time for encouraging reading. Students have been notified to participate in a two day training for Peer mediation.

-  Mrs. Hickens wished to thank Julie Raymond and Wendy Demand for organizing the Talent Show. Jennifer Donnelly has stated she will participate in the newly established bi-law committee. All the staff is looking forward to conferences. The 5th grade graduation committee held their first meeting.  It went very well.

 

Old Business:

1.  Cookie Dough Fundraiser -Cathy Strobl expressed approximately $3,600 in sales.  Greenwood to receive 40%.

 2.  Mom to Mom Sale - Scheduled date May 5th 9:00am-2:00pm.  Brooke Goodnough expressed the need for information to be sent with Gazette regarding this event.  She is currently working on getting contracts made up and figuring out how many tables she will be able to rent out.  Big ticket items will be displayed by the triple arch doors.  

 

New Business:

1.  Elections - Kelly Bean asked if there were to be any further nominations....no reply.  Kelly also stated that there are 2 positions for Vice President (there is no Co-Vice President position).  Two votes need to be placed for Vice President.

 

The nominees were as follows:

 President - Brooke Goodnough

Vice President - Wendy Fick, Laurel May, Michell Tapner, and Tammy Smith

Secretary - Teri Lucas

Treasurer - Jodi Groves

Historians - Sandi Prantera, Julie Raymond

 

Ballats were distributed, votes were taken, Kelly Bean tallied the votes and Cathy Strobl re-tallied the votes.

 

The results:

President - Brooke Goodnough

Vice Presidents - Wendy Fick and Laurel May

Secretary - Teri Lucas

Treasurer - Jodi Groves

Historians - Sandi Prantera and Julie Raymond

 

New officers were congratulated.

 

1.  Vendor Fair - Kelly Bean requested $75 up front to cover costs but will reimburse PTO after event.

2.  Secretaries Day - April 25th - $50 approved to purchase Wave's gift certificate.  14 in favor. 0 opposed.  Julie Raymond to purchase and deliver.

3.  Skating Party - Scheduled for April 26th.  Flyers to go out.  Kelly Bean chairing.

4.  Talent Show - Two showtimes are scheduled for April 24th 1:30 pm and 7:00 pm.  Julie Raymond expressed the need for kids to practice over break.

5.   Bowling Night - Cathy Stobl still needs forms back

6.  Teacher Appreciation - Week of May 7th.  Wendy Demand to chair.  Jane Powell and Diane Hinze offered help.  Laurel May expressed $500 is not enough for the week and suggested $600.  $600 approved. 14 in favor, 0 opposed.  Brooke Goodnough to find out if Culver's will donate food for teacher dinner but if not $100 was approved.  14 in favor, 0 opposed.

7.  Meeting closed at 7:57 pm by president - Kelly Bean
