value of moving homeroom to the end of

Welcome
The focus of this
month during our coffee talks with parents and grade level meetings is RESPECT.
Respect is defined as an assumption of good faith and competence in another
person or in the whole of oneself. The main
components of
respect are integrity, trust and values. The mission of the Jefferson Middle
School Community is to provide an educationally sound, safe, healthy environment
that promotes responsibility, mutual respect and self-esteem. This is to be
accomplished by nurturing a love of learning and by guiding individuals to cope
with change. Together we can work together to help all of our students to
respect themselves, others, their families, the school, learning and the earth.
“Respect enables
people to work together in a complimentary fashion.” It is very important that
we utilize each other to help our students, We value you as parents and your
children as our students.
My
forty-one year association with Lakeview
Public Schools as a teacher, department
chairman, assistant principal, and principal
of Jefferson Middle School will draw to a
close this summer.
The four
decades of service to the children and
parents of the district have been some of
the most rewarding experiences of my life.
I have had the good fortune to work with
teachers, secretaries, administrators,
aides, school board members, and parent
volunteers with formidable talents, insights
and compassion. I have seen a generation of
students become young men and women and in
turn responsible, productive adults which to
me was very gratifying. I possess enough
good memories to last me my remaining days.
My
retirement, to say the very least, is a
bittersweet time, but it affords me the
opportunity to pursue other interests and to
devote more time to my wife, Susan,
daughters Lindsay and Meredith and step-son
Brad, was well as my dog—Duffy.
Although I
may be saying farewell to Jefferson Middle
School, its staff and students will remain
dear to me, and I will watch with great
interest the continued achievement of JMS
students under the excellent leadership of
Principal David Lavender.
Respectfully,
Fred A.
