2600 FRENCH I
(1 Unit of Credit)
This course introduces students to the French language through listening, speaking, reading and writing. Emphasis is also placed on appreciation and understanding of the French-speaking people and their culture.

Prerequisite:  "C" or better in English
Grades Taught:  9, 10, 11, 12


2610 FRENCH II
(1 Unit of Credit)
This course places added emphasis on vocabulary acquisition and language structure through the four basic skills. Students improve their conversational skills and proficiency through speeches, dialogue, and skits. The study of French-speaking people and their culture is continued.

Prerequisite:  French I - "C" or better
Grades Taught:  9, 10, 11, 12


2620 FRENCH III
(1 Unit of Credit)
Students have the opportunity to put the knowledge they have acquired in French 1 & 2 to use in the discussion of short stories, and cultural essays. Emphasis is placed on speaking, continuing acquisition of pertinent vocabulary, and improving writing skills.

Prerequisite:  French II -"C" or better

2630 FRENCH IV (Honors)
(1 Unit of Credit)
This course is a college preparatory language course. Speaking ability and oral comprehension is emphasized. The literature, grammar, and vocabulary covered are related to those required in college language courses. At completion of this course, a student may have the option to take the Advanced Placement Test.

Prerequisite:  "B" or better - French III and 3.0 G.P.A.

2700 GERMAN I
(1 Unit of Credit per year)
Emphasis is placed on the basic skills necessary for learning the German language. These skills include speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Also, attention is given to cultural aspects of German-speaking countries.

2701 GERMAN II
(1 Unit of Credit per year)
The four basic skills are further developed. There is a review of basic grammar, verbs, and vocabulary followed by more complex forms. Cultural aspects of Germany are discussed.
