Course Offerings: Life Skills
3000 PERSONAL AND CONSUMER SKILLS (1 Unit of Credit)
This course deals with developing knowledge and personal decision-making skills, essential skills needed for healthy living, and good consumer practices. Students will learn and practice skills necessary for a successful and responsible life through "hands on" units in personal health and living practices, family health and nutrition, and wise consumer practices.

3010 CHILD DEVELOPMENT I AND II (1 Unit of Credit)
This course deals with learning parenting skills as well as knowledge of child growth and development. Students will learn about reproduction, family planning, and childbirth. The care of children from infancy, toddlers, and preschoolers, as well as the stages and problems of development of the elementary, middle school, and high school-aged child, is stressed. Students will begin to develop their parenting skills for their future families. Careers dealing with children are also explored.

3030 HEALTH/ NUTRITION (1 Unit of Credit)
This class deals with essential health and living skills. Units covered include mental health, nutrition, major diseases, first aid, CPR, substance abuse, and human sexuality. The student will have a variety of learning experiences. Some of these include attaining CPR certification -, learning first aid skills, and computer analyses and nutritional laboratory experiences. The goal of this course is to emphasize the importance of mental and physical well being in daily living.
Prerequisite: Required 11th Grade Class

3040 FAMILY LIVING/INDEPENDENT LIVING (1 Unit of Credit)
Independent Living is a course that helps students become aware of the responsibilities and survival skills necessary to live on their own. Decision-making skills will be taught by analyzing real-life situations such as finding a job, healthy work habits, money and time management, buying and operating a car, and living independently.
Family Living is ideal for seniors to help them determine what they want in their future family. Family relations, roles, responsibilities, and stages within the family are some of the units covered. Students will begin to determine their future goals and values in relation to money, jobs, career and mate selection, engagement, wedding planning, marriage, and family crises.
